Surrounding the capital, the Argun Gorge and the nearby Shatoy district offer steep cliffs and small mountain villages characterized by stone tower houses. Winters bring snow to the higher elevations, while summers are warm and dry. Chechnya’s cultural scene includes mosque architecture like the Akhmad Kadyrov Mosque and traditional crafts preserved in local workshops.
